Thembisile Mahuwa

Thembisile Mahuwa from South Africa shares her powerful political journey that began at a young age through youth political involvement.

Driven by a desire to address community challenges like crime, teenage pregnancy, and substance abuse, she chose to become an advocate for change despite facing resistance from elders, family concerns, and bullying. She highlights the importance of resilience, education, and legal knowledge in empowering marginalized communities, leading her to work in legal aid to support those who cannot afford representation. Her experience in a leadership academy strengthened her skills, expanded her perspective, and connected her with other young women across the continent.

She emphasizes action-driven leadership, inclusive policy change, and the power of young people working together to transform society.
